Alma G
Solidly built of thick heart Kauri planks Alma G was modelled on the design of early whale chasing boats.She has since been totally refurbished although the hull remains unchanged throughout its long years of service.She is the oldest surveyed gamefishing vessel in New Zealand and possibly the world.Alma G holds many world records for Gamefishing in the Bay of Islands, including Striped Marlin, Broadbill, Yellowtail, and Black Marlin.Tagging and release started in New Zealand in 1952 from this famous vessel.The Bay of Islands became a world famous gamefishing destination through the tales of legendary writer Zane Grey's fishing experiences published in a book entitled 'Tales of the Angler's Eldorado'. Zane Grey rented the Alma G while staying in the Bay of Islands for three seasons from 1926. He taught the locals more successful ways to catch big gamefish. Zane Grey himself established several gamefishing world records while here.Since those days people from all around the world have enjoyed big gamefishing from the Alma G in the Bay of Islands, including royalty, politicians, entertainers and writers.Fishing available:
